Seditionists, Heroes, and Other Americans

This series has been my response to the happenings of 2020-2021. Witnessing our country undergo the challenges of democracy has been… well… exhausting. These paintings were inspired by the power wielded by individuals. I was, on more than one occasion, dumfounded by how the actions of one affected the whole. I started by painting those who meant harm. When my studio filled with these faces, I needed to add some heroes in order to retain faith. And, some folks appeared from paint and brushes who didn’t belong to either the seditionists or heroes, but represent America, nonetheless.
